Ashland's Newest Guest House Has Prime Location &
Services For Wellness
Ashland, OR- April 2005 - The DeLaunay House,
located 185 N. Pioneer is nestled in Ashland's
Historic Railroad District, just a block from downtown and the renown
Shakespeare Theatres. This
1909 Craftsman Style Guest house was renovated by successful artist,
interior designer and proprietor, Deborah De Launay in 2003 as a
fulfillment of a dream and an act of love. Besides Deborah's own
stained glass art pieces that are displayed throughout the house, you
will see hand painted clouds and sky above as you walk up the stairs,
then a gorgeous Shakespearian robe hung for all to view. When you
enter a suite called Zen Cottage you can't miss the clawfoot tub
adorned in tiger stripes to match the elegant animal print accents
in the adjoining rooms. The Peace Mountain suite is very spacious and
lush with it's rich deep plum velvets, fringed pillows and silk hand
knotted rug. Harmony Suite, the largest and most luxurious
beholds the original Craftsman built-ins surrounding the dining
room. The Mission style is prevalent again in the window
details and pocket french doors leading to the living room where a
grand king size bed is located.
Deborah has incorporated heirloom antiques, collectable's and her
own original art collection
from artists all over the country, making this a very interesting
interior and a feeling of being home.
In addition to the fabulous suites, the De Launay House offers a
variety of amenities which include fully equipped kitchenettes,
wireless Internet access, cable, a/c, private patio areas, and a
front porch so inviting you can't resist sitting in one of
the Adirondack chairs to view the sun setting on the mountains.
The most exciting amenities are the onsite Spa services such as
massage, facials andwaxing treatments, and yoga! Imagine checking into
your room having your massage then soaking in your clawfoot tub
with aromatherapy and then off to a restful sleep.
Another special service offered are the custom baskets you can
order for a picnic at beautiful Lithia park or a romance basket
full of goodies to compliment your get-a way. Catering and private chef
service is available for corporate meetings, showers and
reunions. The whole house sleeps up to 14 with the 4 suites
offering each a private bathroom so design your exquisite experience
and come live it out! Your luxury suite awaits you at the De
Launay House. Call Deborah for reservations at 541-621-5409 or

"Comfy retreats, good food qualify these special finds"
Ashlnd Daily Tidings , May 2004
"The Best House" Period.
Looking up from the top of the stairs, one notices the
ceiling hand painted to look like the blue sky with beautiful
clouds" I wanted it to be spacious and open as you walk up the stairs
and to make it feel like your walking up towards the heavens".
When DeLaunay, an interior designer, purchased the residence, it
definitely needed work. "It really needed some TLC and for someone to
give it the love it deserved" ... DeLaunay went to work to
make each room unique. She used a combination of antiques and
her own personal art collection and family heirlooms. "It's very
eclectic". You should see the tiger striped claw foot tub to match
the animal print theme in the adjacent room adorned in leopard and
tiger prints.

"In addition to the superb location (less than a 10 minute walk to the theatres-- and believe me, if you stay somewhere else where you must drive in to see a play, parking will be an issue!), the decor alone provides endless enjoyment.
One day while the others in our party were skiing at Mt. Ashland, I went from room to room, playing a pleasant game with myself: identifying thematic motifs. There is a peacock motif, a feline motif, a sea shell motif, and a pixie/brownie/elf/fairy motif. There are paintings of ladies saying good-bye to their knights as they ride off to the Crusades. There are dreamy landscapes reminiscent of Maxfield Parrish, or painters of the Romantic school. There may be other motifs, and if I had more time, I would enjoy looking for them.
The quality and taste of the decor is readily evident, and the attention to fine detail in the arrangement is apparent everywhere you look. As guests, we enjoyed the chance to share in experiencing some of your heirlooms, and art, and collection of books. It was like staying for a while at a distinguished estate, in another--more sedate and genteel--era.
We look forward to the next chance we have to stay at the DeLaunay House!"
